An Epidemic of Men’s Hair Loss

Men’s Hair Loss

Baldness effects more than fifty million American men each year. It is a worldwide problem however and many men accept it only be grudgingly. Modern hair restoration offers men the world over and opportunity to treat their hair loss. They no longer have to suffer in silent resignation.

Parsa Mohebi, MD reviews briefly the basic cause of baldness in men.

The most common cause of hair loss in men is androgenetic alopecia. This hereditary disorder effects approximately sixty percent of the worlds male population by the age of fifty years. These statistics cross all social, ethnic and cultural lines. It is easy to see why hair transplants are the most common elective cosmetic procedure being performed on men today. Medical science has determined that both hormonal and genetic factors play a role in the process of balding. However the exact mechanism of causing androgenetic alopecia in men is yet fully understood.

Many men who suffer from male pattern baldness are extremely unhappy with their situation and would do anything to change it. Despite some change in the past two decades towards baldness it is still the source of loss of self image, confidence and esteem in many men.  Hair loss sufferers confirm that it affects every aspect of their life. This includes interpersonal relationships as well as their professional life. It is not uncommon for men to change their career paths because of hair loss.
